Time to time major hackers caused so many problems to major companies specially NASA by hacking and revealing their important and secret files.
Hackers caused Millions of Dollars some them do this for money while some do this only for knowledge.

10. Vladimir Levin
In 1994, a Russian hacker known as Vladimir Levin used a dial up connection and a computer to access the Citibank Network.
He stole around $10.5 million from various accounts.
He hailed from Russia and get arrested in UK and after he was deported to US where he was put into Jail for 3 years.
In the meantime, Citibank manager to retrieve only $400,000 of the stolen $10.5 million.
9. Owen Walker
When Owen Walker was only 17 years, he led an international hacking group.
He created a virus known as Akbot virus which spread which spread around to 1.3 million computers, causing them to crash and caused around $26 million damage.
Even after pleading guilty, this hacker was never convicted, as the judge decided that the boy’s future would be harmed.
8. Jeremy Hammond
Jeremy Hammond is currently serving 10 years prison for his Cyber crimes.
Jeremy Hammond is the hacker who stole 60,000 Credit Card numbers and donated them to charity.
He is also known for hacking the Stratfor group’s 973 emails, who are specialize in global intelligence, and publishing them on WikiLeaks.
The hacked emails also contains secret details of Osama bin Laden’s death and plans for the United States to incite riots in Venezuela.
7. The Aurora hackers
A group of hackers rather than a single comes under the Aurora hackers. They are responsible for the “Operation Aurora”.
Operation Aurora is an International and complex hack in 2009 that targeted 34 companies including Google and Yahoo!. The hackers are believed to come from China as part of the Elderwood Gang – a group of hackers based in Beijing. A Shanghai-based group, PLA Unit-61398, were also believed to be involved, in this massive operation.
Google were the first to make the attack public, stating on their blog that they had had their intellectual property stolen – it seems that the hackers were after the source code of these internet giants, rather than any personal information although it later emerged that certain gmail accounts had also been hacked.
The hackers behind Aurora have never been caught and said to still be actively hacking. The main result of the whole episode was that Google withdrew from China entirely.
6. Kevin Mitnick
Kevin Mitnick is known as the poster-boy for hackers everywhere in the early 90s.
In early 90s he hacked into everything he want from Nokia and Motorola to IBM and even the Pentagon leaking millions of dollars information.
In 1993 after hacking into telephone service, he became wanted in FBI, after 3 years in 1995 he got caught and placed into Solitary Confinement because government is afraid that Kevin may lead to a Nuclear war.
After ending his prison sentence he left hacking and started a company named as Mitnick Security Consulting and became a Cyber Security adviser.
5. Jonathan James
Jonathan James was the poster boy for teenage hackers.
At the age of only 16 years he stole $170m worth of code from NASA. He installed a Backdoor in the Defense Threat Reduction Agencies computers, which gave him access to messages and source code.
Because just he was a Juvenile, he was treated as such with a very light punishment of 6 months of house arrest.
In 2007 his name was mentioned in conjunction with a hack on the TJX department store. Maintaining his innocent but convinced he would go to prison, he committed Suicide on May 18th, 2008.
4. Albert Gonzalez
From year 2005 to 2007 Albert Gonzalez stole around 175 million Credit Card Numbers, which he sold online.
During his spree, it was rumored he threw himself a $75,000 birthday party, and that he once complained of having to count $340,000 by hand.
He caused damages of more than $200 million which include theft of cash and damage to computer systems.
After he get caught he was sentenced to 20 years prison.
3. Anonymous (group)
Anonymous is a decentralized international hacktivist group that is widely known for its various DDOS Cyber Attacks against several Governments and Agencies.
They are very to known to run the WikiLeaks, a website for all type of leaks which is now close due to many secrets leaked by Anonymous about famous Celebrities.
Anonymous is started in 2003 from a web forum and is now king of the Dark Web.
Anonymous also has a YouTuber channel known as Anonymous Official.
2. Gary McKinnon
Gary McKinnon is one of the most dangerous Hacker of all time.
Gary McKinnon hacked over 97 United States Military and intelligence system only in 1 year and caused US government over $70,000.
During one attack, he deleted critical files (such as weapon logs), crafted a network of 2,000 computers for 24 hours, copied files, and stole password.
He also left a message to US military’s website that “Your security is crap” and this message also “US foreign policy is akin to Government-sponsored terrorism these days … It was not a mistake that there was a huge security stand down on September 11 last year … I am SOLO. I will continue to disrupt at the highest levels.”
Gary McKinnon said that this campaign of messing with Americans was only for finding the evidence of UFOs and aliens which he said that he found that in NASA’s files.
This hacker’s real name was never revealed, but according to a report, he was a 55-years old Greek Mathematics.
Since 2002, he broke into systems of Dassault which is a French Military organisation. After breaking into the systems of Dassault, Astra sold the censorious details of aircrafts, weapons, etc. to other countries.
Astra had caused damages of more than $360 million.
He got caught in 2008, prisoned for 6 years but his identity never revealed.
